Cerdanyola del Vallès, 16th October 2019. There is a need for promoting innovation in many different business sectors in order to achieve more competitive and satisfactory products and services. Research facilities have a great potential to offer innovative solutions. However, today technology transfer still continues being a challenge.
With the aim of fostering opportunities and building bridges between science and industry the "Trans-Pyrenean Node for Scientific Instrumentation" (TNSI) project holds a two-day workshop at the ALBA Synchrotron. On the 24th of October 2019, several renowned experts will be presenting the main trends and resources for promoting technology transfer from the lab to the industry. Ramon Perisé, research and development chef of Mugaritz restaurant, recognized with 2 Michelin stars since 2006, will explain how they have introduced technology in gastronomy. Xavier Ferràs, professor at ESADE, will go deep on how innovation clusters can led to innovation. During the 25th of October 2019, companies specialised in key enabling technologies such as synchrotron facilities will be showcasing case studies.
"The goal is to find new avenues of collaboration among the participants but also to inspire them to integrate new strategies for innovation", says Francisco López, TNSI coordinator.
The TNSI project, awarded a grant of 1.2 Million Euro, wants to put together SMEs and research centres in the border regions of Spain and France to promote cooperation in R&D&I and technology transfer. To do so, they together develop fundamental and pre-competitive research and perform training for researchers and companies for effective technology transfer. The project is coordinated by BIHURCRYSTAL and its members are: the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), the ALBA Synchrotron, the Institute of Material Sciences of Aragon (ICMA-CSIC), the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR), the GraPhene NanoTech (GPNT, SME), the Centre of Materials Physics (CFM-CSIC), CEMES (CNRS) and ISP-SYSTEM (SME).
