Average data rates of 5-10 TB/day during X-ray tomographic microscopy experiments are routine at most large scale facilities, translating into PBs of data per year. These numbers are expected to increase at diffraction-limited storage rings and with the advent of faster and larger detectors. Data reduction is mandatory to help reduce storage costs, facilitating data mobility as well as easing everyday work. In this talk, we will discuss data reduction strategies for X-ray tomographic microscopy, including traditional data compression and smart acquisition schemes.

This seminar is organised by LEAPS-Innov workpackage 7 (data).
